There are many studies available on different types of learners but essentially we all take on information in different ways. From the visual learner who can recall details from images or video to the reader type who will happily disseminate information from text, there is no doubt that a single approach to training will never work.

We don’t underestimate the quality that good trainers contribute to face-to-face training and people would be forgiven for thinking they cannot influence online training content in the same way. Whilst online training will never replace the unique aspects of in-person interaction and spontaneity, there are ways in which your training expertise can shine online.

Any frog will tell you (albeit in a series of unintelligible croaks) that the ability to be able to project your voice across a vast territory is crucial for survival. For our amphibious friends, this comes down to the usual squabbles around territoriality and securing a mate. But for professionals with an interest in training (and a warped imagination) there is a definite link, here, to the human realm and the world of organisational culture.

The idea of being ‘boxed in’ is not just unappealing for us Frogs, it is something most humans avoid too. Unfortunately many company investments in technology end up doing just that, leaving people restricted and unable to move forward as a result.

The world of corporate training is full of seeming impossibilities. How do we stay compliant, when the costs of delivering compliance training to all of our staff make it unworkable? It is a headache for any HR team. Or as improbable as a Frog jumping more than twenty times its own body length.

For any organisation, staff training impacts on success, on so many levels. Good training leads to staff that are competent and feel valued, which in turn enhances the culture of the organisation and raises the bar in terms of quality and output. A strong culture of CPD is not a “nice to have”. It is a necessity, helping your school to stay ahead in what is an increasingly competitive landscape.
